You May Not Buy SecondHand Phones Again After Reading This

Buyers of secondhand phones, which a lot of people - majority from the east - call "belgium phones" are classified into two groups; (1) the lucky and (2) the unlucky. Apart from 2nd hand devices being unbelievably cheap and few in good conditions which some lucky buyers pounce on, the unlucky fellows might get a bitter treat.

I've been an unlucky belgium phone buyer, not once, but twice. Some years back, I bought a second hand BlackBerry bold 5. After some days I discovered that memory cards don't work, the camera didn't work and touchscreen is misbehaving! literarily, that BB phone was condenmed & certified doomed. And after doing repairs, I discovered that the money I spent on repairs was more than the amount I bought the phone.

Why do you think people sell their old phones?
1. Urgent need of cash
2. Need to upgrade
3. They have too much phones.
4. The phone is faulty.

The fourth reason is more common. A friend of mine noticed her phone was abnormally freezing & hanging every now and then. Immediately, she put the phone up for sale - and at a cheap price too. Good for her, she sold it. Bad for the buyer who returned two weeks later lamenting the headache the frequent hanging of the phone gives him! "My dear, since i was using this phone, i haven't experienced any freezing" - she blatantly denied.

Why You Shouldn't Patronise Belgium Devices

1. Theft: A rainy night in delta state, thieves gained entrance into this guy's house - took his money & phones! Once they unlock the phones, what next? Sell it. You might be using a stolen phone and you don't know, you might be arrested and you won't know.

2. No Guarantee, No Warranty: Secondhand phone buyers don't have any guarantee that what they want to buy is in good condition. Neither do they have warranty incase of damages! Once you buy, you bye!

3. You May Spend More on Repairs: After discovering numbers of faults, or you decide to repackage the phone (buy earphone, change casing, screen guard etc) the money you'll spend on repairs & repackaging may be more than the amount you bought the phone. But when you buy new and unused phones, warranty will speak for you!

4. No Receipt: Nowadays, highway search police asks for receipt of ordinary earphones, talkless of phones. Since secondhand sellers don't issue receipts, it might be a problem if you're called upon to provide evidence of ownership of the phone.

5. No Freebies/ Gifts: Unlike some new phones which may come with free memory cards, powerbanks, selfie stick etc. Secondhand items has no provision for that. The highest they can offer is free earphone!

6. Waste of Money: For the extremely unlucky secondhand phone buyers who buys phones which has been certified dead - infact buried, - you get this depression & pain inside of you, telling you everyday that "bros, you just waisted your money o"

Though a lot of people are lucky to buy very good & cheap secondhand phone, it is advisable to do use these tips incase you want to buy one:
  • Know the seller very well - infact, know his/her house
  • Tell the seller to give you 3 days or more to test the phone before completing payments.
  • Spy, ask questions from the seller's friends about the phone before even talking of buying it
  • Bring your memory card, earphone, simcard, charger etc along to test on the phone

Buying secondhand items from stores or online is riskier than buyer from individual. Hope you found this post helpful, kindly share your experience on secondhand phones by commenting below.

FROM MASTERLEO, Gideon kachi, thank u for bringing this post, i have passed 2ru a lot of problems in buying a 2nd hand or faily used devices, i use to rely on buying faily used phones from igbo men in my capital city selling belgium phones by de road side, & i use to go for it cus they use to sale it cheap, and i ws thinking it is better to buy faily use than westin money and buy brand new, but each tym i buy phone from them, i wl encounter battery problem, and b4 buying i wld test everything, but wen i take it home, few days later it wld start to develop one faults and de other, so it is even good to buy from sombody u know, than buying on the road side, cuz after de receipt have been issued to u and written "GOODS RECEIVED IN GOOD CONDITION CANNOT BE RETURNED AND NO REFUND OF MONEY AFTER PAYMENT" so u cant return it no matter de fault de phone go and develop, but de last one dat made me regreat buying 2nd hand phone happend wen had 34k wit me, instead of me to go and buy a new cheap smart phone, i decided to go nd buy a faily used phone very costly in brand new but its faily used was cheaper, i then go for it, which was infinix hot 4 finger print, even if as it was being 2nd hand its body was stil looking very new, so they said its initial price was 31k which the brand new is 45k, so i priced them and they brought down de price to 25k, and i ws very happy, i said why shld i go and waste 45k while dis is the same as de brand new, cus i tested and confirmed everything and nothing changes, not knowing dat dis phone has a very big problem inside, and de seller tried convincing me to buy de phone, saying dat nothing do de phone, make i no dey confuse, saying dat nah person wer dey skul sale de phone for am say him wan cary money pay skul fees, dat e never even tey de person buy am self dat de guy just cum dey broke bcus of skul fees dat it is even my luck, dat i shld buy it, he tried all he can to convince me, so i paid them de money and they wrote receit for me, and i go, i bought cover and anti-break for the phone, plus my transport, i nearly exhusted de 34 k, and i didnt even think i wld have batery problem again cus de battery was built-in and 4000mah, so i left wit confidence nt knowing de dat that was not the original battery, that they have already opened and do all sorts of things.. so wen i get home i charged de battery, it did not even reach 20-30minit it ran to 59%, i was shocked, bt from 60 percent up wld be very slow, so wen am using it, from 100 to 60 wld strong a little bt wen it reach 59 it blow of lyk wind wether am using it or not it wld run down fast, and another thing was dat de phone use to be very hot wen i enter internet, but i didnt even notice til de day i remove the cover, if i enter internet it or i use it constant it wld heat like 40degree celcius, very hot, so i sort out their phone number from the receipt, i called them and reported the issue to them that i wld try nd cum the and return de phone, but they couldnt listend, they ended the call, each tym i cal them they wount pick, i even wnted to go there myself bt de transpot use to be too cost. cus i was out of cash, so if u were me how wld u feel, if u remove ur last money and buy somthing then dat thing no cum dey sure 4 u, so am taking tym 2 tel u why i stop buy faily used phones, am advicing u all according to gideon kachi, our people use to say it is always good to spend money and buy a good thing, dat is why am going for LEEGOO M8, so my advice is, stop buying 2nd hand phones from people u dnt know especialy those selling on road side, or trying 2 get through phone article posted online or on website like jiji-ng, olx-com etc.. because i have and experience, and i wld love to tell if am permitted, so u take it as a lesson.. thank u gideon
