Instagram Testing new Feature to Cross-post Stories onto WhatsApp

WhatsApp Status, which was launched by February last year—as another Facebook-owned Snapchat Stories copycat—will be getting a boost anytime soon, as the company is testing cross-posting Instagram Stories to WhatsApp.

Instagram Stories is a feature that lets users post photos and videos that dissapears after 24 hours, boasting of over 300 million daily active users. In a bid to revive the dead Facebook Stories, the social media giant earlier allowed Instagram Stories to be cross posted onto Facebook. And they're doing the same to WhatsApp.

This feature is currently available to a limited number of people in Brazil, with a wider roll-out likely to come later this year. Meanwhile, users who have access to it are able to share their Instagram Stories directly to WhatsApp, as a WhatsApp Status which will disappear after 24 hours.

According to a Facebook spokesperson: “We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you."

You can access the Instagram to WhatsApp Stories cross-posting feature by tapping the "Share" button in Instagram >> selecting WhatsApp >> and then tapping the "Send" button to publish the Story. We are hopeful this feature will be released globally in a future date this year.
