Xiaomi Suspends Android 8.0 Oreo Update for Mi A1

Xiaomi started rolling out the final version of Android 8.0 Oreo to the Mi A1 smartphone in the last day of 2017 after a short period of beta testing, what looked like the perfect end-of-year gift. The beta test didn't even last for a week before the official update was released. Now, due to the rush, there's a problem.

The Chinese OEM has suspended the Android 8.0 Oreo roll-out due to series of bugs detected and experienced by Xiaomi Mi A1 users, and this will last pending all issues are resolved. Owners go the phone who already updated complained of not just one or two bugs. But a lot of them. They include issues with the camera, dialer, Recents apps, fingerprint sensor and battery life.

The battery ridiculously drains faster whenever Bluetooth is turned on, swipe gesture on the fingerprint sensor is practically dead. While the dialer app is the most annoying, as it stops working or not respond, causing delays in making calls and for other related uses. Xiaomi will offer a temporary fix for that, until Jio—the dialer app maker addresses the bug.

All these and more must be fixed before the company resumes pushing out Android 8.0 Oreo update for Xiaomi Mi A1.
