Goodbye to DSTV and GOTV as MultiChoice to Shut Down in June

It has come to our ears that MultiChoice, the parent company and owners of popular satellite televisions—DSTV and GoTV will be shutting down and all their operations halted in Nigeria by June, 2019. The Federal Government has informed the management of MultiChoice whose license expires June next year.

Going by a letter written by the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) to that effect on Tuesday, MultiChoice's license which was issued to them four(4) years ago won't be renewed because it was not in line with Digital Switch Over (DSO) White Paper. If the company will ever operate in Nigeria again after its license expires, the only option available for them is to go to licensed Signal Distribution company, i.e., Pinnacle Communications Ltd or ITS.

To add salt to the wound, GOTV has been held under suspicion for being used as a channel to siphon foreign exchange from Nigeria by its parent company, South African Multi Choice DSTV.

In recent times, a lot of companies have been folding up in this country for one reason or the other. Few days ago, we confirmed that OLX will stop operation in Nigeria and 2 other African countries. All these will directly or indirectly affect our economy and standard of living as unemployment will be multiplied.

I won't have be bothered about this new if TStv had given us what they promised. Stayed glued for more details about this. Kindly subscribe to our newsletter below 👇 and also share this update with friends.
