Just few weeks after Android Wear 2.8 was released, Google is set to introduce Android Wear 2.9, with its update prepared to roll out in a few days to come. It will come with new features which includes a new notification complication that lets you see messages previews, along with a change that adds "improved glanceability in notification cards with longer titles."
It's important to note that this OTA update is for supported devices using Android wear app, and not for an Android Wear powered timepiece/smartwatch.
Also on the list of added features is a dot found at the bottom of the watch face—by default—to indicate an unread notification. Before the update, users were required to enable this feature for it to work. The dot will sport a white color, moreover, it can be changed by the developers if it doesn't blend well with a particular watch face.
Additionally, thanks to Android Wear 2.9, supported watches can display the total number of unread notifications you have on your smartwatch. You can see it on the system tray, or any other area on the watch face.
