Bug Alert: Android 8.1 Oreo Update for Razer Phone Halted

Android 8.1 Oreo started rolling out to the Razer Phone in April after the company had earlier promised the update few months back. This gaming smartphone was launched last year running Android Nougat pre-loaded, before this new Oreo OS update which is yet to reach some markets.

Bug Alert: Android 8.1 Oreo Update for Razer Phone Halted

Unfortunately, this Android 8.1 Oreo update may take much longer than expected to hit your Razer Phone because the Californian-based OEM has halted its roll out due to some bugs. Owners of this device who have already installed the Android 8.1 Oreo update are complaining of issues with the SIM card.

According to UK network carrier—Three, Razer confirmed that Android 8.1 Oreo for Razer Phone has been delayed due to some issues. Three further stated that it's working hand in hand with Razer “to get a reliable 8.1 software update soon and hopefully a release can be pushed out in the near future.”

It appears this issue is expansive as Razer Phone users from different parts of the world claim they have cellular data problems regardless of the carrier they use. So, we aren't certain whether the Android 8.1 Oreo update has been delayed in other countries as well, but we can confirm it's already available in the United States.

So far, Razer haven't made any official statement concerning this issue. But according to what Three said about them confirming the bug, we're expecting it to be fixed and the Android 8.1 Oreo roll out to continue soon.
