NCC Monthly Internet Subscribers Data: 9Mobile and Glo big Losers

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has released the Monthly Internet Subscribers Data for the month of April 2018 where we saw a 613,275 subscriber increase, which then moves the total number of internet users in the country to 101. 2 million in April – from 100.6 million recorded in March.



But despite the increase in internet users, Glo and 9Mobile continues to lose a handful of subscribers every month. This time around, the biggest loser in April is Glo, while MTN gained the highest subscriber base in the same period.

Internet Subscriber Data for April 2018

• MTN gained 718,803 internet users in April, leading to 38.147m monthly subscription increase from 37.428 million recorded in March.
• Airtel follows suit with 366,254 new internet users, increasing its subscription in April to 25.842 million from 25.476 million in March.
• Globacom lost 321,497 internet users reducing its subscription base to 26.372 million from the 26.693 million recorded in March.
• 9mobile also lost 150,285 internet users in April decreasing its subscription to 10.847 million as against 10.997 million recorded in March.

The total number of mobile telephone lines in April 2018 stood at 160 million, a significant increase compared to 148 million in March. However, the number of active mobile lines on code division multiple access (CDMA) didn't change, as the same 217,566 were recorder in March and April.
