After several leaks and rumors, Samsung has now officially launched the Galaxy A9 Star in China in a bid to gain back its lost market share in the country. The smartphone design on the front looks like any other Samsung device, with a Super AMOLED Infinity display and reduced bezels above and below. There is not much to said again aside from its in-ear speaker and selfie camera.

However, the rear of the Galaxy A9 Star is far from the ones seen on regular budget Samsung phones, replaced entirely in favor of a different look that is said to have been inspired by Apple’s iPhone X. The camera setup has been changed as a new vertical dual-camera lens has been placed in the top corner of the device, with a dual-tone LED flash positioned just below. The fingerprint scanner is then isolated in the center of the panel, positioned a bit higher than usual with a much squarer design than the sensors seen on other Samsung devices.
Specs-wise, the Samsung Galaxy A9 Star is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage for smooth multitasking and enough space to save large files. To keep the lights on, the handset uses a large 3,700mAh battery, and runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
In other news, Samsung also announce a Galaxy A9 Star Lite, although it comes as a rebranded Galaxy A6+. As for their prices, the regular Galaxy A9 Star costs about $470, while the A9 Star Lite retails at $310 in China.
