It's just a couple of months after the launch of Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 - precisely in September 2017, which was then preceded in March this year by an upgraded version named the Mi Mix 2s. Now, it seems the China-based company is working on another updated model in form of the third-generation Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 as what appears to be the first live image of the phone has surfaced online.
Looking at the image above, the alleged Mi Mix 3 appears to be sporting equally thin bezels all around the display which give it a higher screen-to-body ratio, unlike the former Mi Mix smartphones that has a slight chin in the bottom. Due to this, the lately-launched Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s boasts of a selfie camera at the bottom right corner, but there's no room for that in this new model.
In addition, no front-facing camera is seen in the image, a move which suggests that Xiaomi may use a pop-out module for the sensor as showcased by Vivo and Oppo. Unfortunately, the image doesn't show the back of the Mi Mix 3. However, it should have a ceramic build just like the Mi Mix 2s, with a vertically aligned rear camera setup expected to pride dual 12MP sensors and a dual-tone LED flash placed at the top corner of the phone. A fingerprint scanner looks set to be added on this model.
In terms of hardware, the Mi Mix 3 is expected to be powered with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 as seen in most 2018 flasghip devices. This may be joined with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal memory. And since the handset is coming later this year, it may probably run Android 9.0 P out of the box alongside Xiaomi's MIUI custom interface.
