Whatsapp Extends Service Continuity Till Dec 2017 on S40, BBOS and Blackberry 10 Phones

Good news to all Nokia S40, BlackBerry 10 users and those on BB operating system. WhatsApp has once again been considerate and extended its support & continuous service on the aforementioned platforms till December 2017.

WhatsApp has been postponing the expiry of its messaging service on S40 Nokia phones, Blackberry operating system and BB10 platform close to 2 years now, and it has once again extended it service on these platforms till 31st of December 2017.

Brian Acton, WhatsApp co-founder, said:
“We are going to extend BlackBerry through the end of 2017”.
Though, all BlackBerry devices running on secured Android; including PRIV, DTEK50/60, and the new KEYone, will have indefinite access to WhatsApp. You can further confirm the deadline extension by navigating to settings >> about from your s40 or BlackBerry device, or by visiting BBworld, and you'll see details about it there.

WhatsApp extending its service on s40 & BBOS till 31st, Dec 2017 is certainly a great news. However, users on those platforms shouldn't fold their hands hoping for another re-extention, as WhatsApp has provided enough time for you all to upgrade to supported devices.

SUPPORTED DEVICES
  • Android 2.3.3+ (includes BlackBerry PRIV, BlackBerry DTEK50/60 and BlackBerry KEYone)
  • Windows Phone 8+
  • iOS 7+

OUTDATED DEVICES (from Dec 17)
  • Nokia S40
  • BlackBerry OS 7+
  • BlackBerry 10

UNSUPPORTED DEVICES (From June 30)
  • Nokia S60
