YouTube Go is an app from Google which enables users to save videos for offline viewing, giving file size and quality options so you'll know how much data a download will consume. This product was announced during Google's CEO, Sundar Pichai, visit to Nigeria for the Google For Nigeria Event.
Youtube Go, which amazingly saves data when streaming videos on the behemoth video-sharing service, youtube, is now available for free download in Nigeria. This app is made specifically for users with poor network coverage and it's a good alternative to the classic YouTube app. In other words, YouTube Go is similar to Facebook lite.
Aside from saving data, Youtube Go features a home screen that shows both personalized recommendations as well as trending and popular videos nearby, allowing users to see the latest content that the people around are watching, upfront. The application also offers a ‘preview video’ function (a feature that is only available on PC) for easy decision on what to watch or download.
The level at which Youtube Go compress data, I repeat, is amazing. Instead of streaming a video of 12.5MB, with this app, you can stream that same video with just 1.5MB, with good quality. It also offers easy video downloading, phone-number sign-in, and effortless searching.

How To Use
1. After Downloading Youtube Go, install, launch the app then enter your mobile phone number and select your country code; for Nigerians it's +234.
2. A verification process will commence. (so make sure the number you entered is valid and inside your phone) You might receive an SMS with a code, simply paste the code in the box provided in Youtube Go. In most cases, your number will be verified automatically, so no code will be sent to you.
3. Lastly, click next and you will be welcomed to the new YouTube Go app with your google account linked. You can now start streaming and watching your favourite shows, music videos or any video content at all without worries and fears of data. Kindly share guys!
