DStv Bounces Back With Internet Based Subscription Model And 30GB Data

The competition in the satelite TV industry is getting healthier everyday. TStv started the race with Internet-based pricing model, GOtv responsed with GOtv Max, StarTimes introduced Pay per view option, and Kwese tv launched with pay-as-you-watch model. All these while, we thought DStv was asleep in terms of new offers and packages, but we were wrong. The Nigerian Pay-TV giant was planning a counterattack against its competitors.

Seeing how the Internet-based pricing model —which is pioneered by TStv— was welcomed with open arms by Nigerians, Multichoice, which has Nigeria as the largest market for DSTV and GOTV in Africa, thought it wise to use this same strategy to entice more customers.

Now Africa’s leading pay-tv provider, MultiChoice, in partnership with Telkom, has introduce free internet based subscription model to the market, which offers a combined entertainment and Internet service to subscribers at an affordable cost.

Telkom is a wireline and wireless telecommunications provider in South Africa, operating in more than 38 countries across the African continent. According to the advert dubbed 'DSTV Na Net ', customers purchasing a full DSTV HD decoder will get a free Mifi-router preloaded with 30GB Data from Telkom. This is bigger than that of TStv's 20GB.

Words from the M.D MultiChoice Kenya,
“We understand that Internet has become a basic necessity for doing business and interacting with other people socially. That is why this partnership with Telkom is an important step towards improving our customer experience.”

Kenya is the only country currently enjoying this service, hopefully, it will get to other Africa country. Can this quench the energy and fire TStv is bringing on November 1?
