MTN Reduces ₦1000 and ₦2000 Monthly Data Plans to 1GB and 2.5GB - See Alternative

I thought the NBS said Nigeria has exited recession? So why has MTN 'restructured' and reduced her major monthly data plans. Recall few months back, MTN increased the price of GoodyBag bundles and its Share n' Sell fee. Now, things has gone from frypan to fire with the latest reduction of the best-selling ₦1000 and ₦2000 monthly data plan.

According to an SMS received by the telco gaint, this monthly data bundle reduction will be effective from 7th of October, but as of the time of this publication (5th), the change has already reflected on our side.

Y'ello! From Oct, 7, we're modifying the 1.5GB plan to give you 1GB +500MB bonus only at night (1am-7am)when you buy or renew... - from MTN.

MTN OLD MONTHLY DATA PLANS

• 1.5GB for ₦1,000
• 3.5GB for ₦2,000

NEW (reduced) MTN MONYHLY DATA PLAN

• 1GB (Plus 500MB 1am -7am) for ₦1,000
• 2.5GB (Plus 1GB 1am-7am) for ₦2,000

Now, if you subscribe for the 1.5GB for ₦1000, you will get 1GB to be used all day + 500MB Bonus usable from
1am – 7am. Likewise, if you subscribe for the 3.5GB for 2,000 Naira, you'll get 2.5GB all day + 1GB bonus usable at night from 1am – 7am.

Though, the reduction didn't affect the 5GB, 10GB and the 22GB MTN montly data plans.

SOLUTION/ALTERNATIVE
With Techpaded, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. If you still want to be enjoying the former MTN data plans, where you get 1.5GB for 1K and 3.5GB for 2k, you should opt-in for MTN SME DATA BUNDLE, which is a good alternative!

With constant complaints about data zapping, poor network, and other issues paralyzing the use of internet in Nigeria, MTN has rubbed salt in the wound by reducing the data allocation of the major monthly plan a lot of people subscribe to. Shameful!
