Skype Brings Back Support for Devices on Older Android Versions

Sometimes in year 2016, Microsoft announced that Skype is dropping support for older Android (and iOS) versions. The good news now is that the popular video chat and voice calling platform has specifically optimized its app to work smoothly on devices running Android 4.0.3 to version 5.1.

This new version of Skype consumes less memory and is smaller in size compared to the full-fledged version, but still offers greater speed with copacetic audio and video quality on low-end Android phones. According to Microsoft, this light version of the app will work well even in areas with “challenging network conditions.”

The roll out of this new update is expected to commence in the coming days, however, it'll take few weeks to arrive in all regions. To test this new version of Skype before it goes public, simply sign up for the Skype Insider Program.
