Asus Launches ZenFone Max Pro M1; Promises ‘Android Q’ Update

Just few hours after rumours of the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 popped up, the Taiwanese company has officially unveiled the mid-range smartphone. It sports a large 6-inch full HD+ display at 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution, with 18:9 aspect ratio. In terms of performance, the phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, with Adreno 509 GPU and massive a 5000mAh battery capacity.

For image duties, Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 features a dual rear camera setup of 13MP+5MP vertically aligned with an LED flash below it and a fingerprint sensor at the center. While for selfies, there's a secondary 8-megapixel front-facing shooter. As reported in the previous leak, Asus aims to offer a “pure Android experience” with the ZenFone Max Pro M1, but there's no mention of Android One. However, the handset runs Android 8.1 Oreo pre-loaded with a promised updates up to Android Q in 2020.

This dual-SIM device has a premium metalic build, shipping in two color options of Deepsea Black and Meteor Silver. Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 will come as well in two memory variants: 3GB RAM plus 32GB native storage, and 4GB RAM plus 64GB inbuilt storage which can further be expanded via microSD card up to 2TB. Asus will release this mid-ranger in Indonesia on April 25, and in India on May 3, before making in available in other countries.

As for the price, the ZenFone Max Pro M1 model with 3GB/32GB costs $160 equivalent to ₦57,000, while the 4GB/64GB variant is priced at $200 which is about ₦72,000. The company also teased the coming of an upgraded version of this ZenFone Max Pro M1, boasting of 6GB RAM onboard with improved camera specs.
