Essential Phone Promised Android 8.1 Oreo Update, but see What we got

Some months back, we learnt that the Essential phone would skip Android 8.0 Oreo for version 8.1, but now, the American-based smartphone manufacturer has released yet another build of the OS. And it's great because it sports amazing features, along with some security improvements, bug fixes, and small enhancing touches.

Essential Phone getting new Android 8.1 Oreo update with April security patch

The Essential Phone has received an update for the new Android 8.1.0 Oreo which is now rolling out, coupled with Google's security patch for this month of April. Furthermore, some modem stability fixes have been added too, along with Bluetooth 5.0 certification, improved performance and bug fixes.

Additionally, gamers will have a wonderful experience using the Essential Phone, as it will now handle external game controllers properly. The update has started rolling out OTA (over the air), so start watching out for the notification on your Essential Phone, otherwise, go to Settings > About Phone > Software update to push it manually.
