According to firmware files posted by XDA Developers, Xiaomi Redmi S2 will likely sport a LCD display, with 720 x 1440 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Though, the actual display size of the phone is still unknown, but what we've just seen obviously hints that it's going to be an entry-level phone. We can tell that under the hood will be Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, thanks to the reference number msm8953 listed on the firmware.

In terms of storage, the device may come in two variants of 2GB and 3GB RAM, with a 16GB inbuilt storage model. It will also carry support for external MicroSD card expandable memory. Once the phone gets listed on Chinese certification site TENAA, we'll be able to get more details on the memory. Furthermore, Xiaomi Redmi S2 is expected to sport a 3,080mAh battery, which when coupled with the power-efficient Snapdragon 625 and the low-resolution display, will last very long.

Additionally, the device will run Android 8.1 Oreo based on MIUI 9 skin, where users will enjoy picture-in-picture mode, autofill and many other features. For images and video duties, Xiaomi Redmi S2 will come with a pair of 12-megapixel camera at the back, consisting of Sony IMX486 as the main sensor.
