Watch out for Xiaomi Mi 6X on April 25th; See Certified Specs

Xiaomi is set to unveil its newest smartphone on the block, dubbed “Xiaomi Mi 6X.” The Chinese company has already sent out invitations for an event to mark the launch of the phone on April 25th at Wuhan University. The venue is a bit odd for a smartphone launch, but it happens the Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun graduated from that school.

Xiaomi Mi 6X recently got certified by China's telecommunications regulatory agency, and the phone's listing reveals it'll sport a large 6-inch display at 2160 x 1080 (FHD+) resolution, with an aspect ratio of 18:9. For smooth multitasking and enough storage space, the device will likely come in two variants of 4GB or 6GB RAM and 32GB of expandable inbuilt storage for the 4GB model, while the 6GB variant gets 64GB/128GB ROM. Under the hood is an octa-core Snapdragon 660 processor which clocks at 2.2GHz and Adreno 506 GPU.

In terms of photography, Xiaomi Mi 6X features a dual camera setup of 20MP + 12MP on the back, likely to be equipped with dual-tone LED flash, portrait mode and a new “AI Lens” feature. There is a 20MP front-facing snapper for selfie. A fingerprint scanner is also mounted on the rear of the phone, but there won't be any 3.5mm earphone jack nor NFC present. The Mi 6X has hybrid Dual SIM options, including a 128GB capacity microSD tray. Android 8.1 based on Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 is pre-installed and it uses a 2910mAh battery to keep the power on.

The Xiaomi Mi 6X will ship in Black, Rose Gold, Gold, White, Blue, Red, Pink, Gray and Silver color variants, and the price will be announced in the coming days. It is also reported that this model will be called Xiaomi Mi A2 worldwide, standing as an upgrade to Xiaomi Mi A1.
