Annoying Ads Won't Show Anymore on Google Chrome Browser from Feb. 15

Ads, otherwise called advertising are sponsored audio/visual contents promoted to sell ideas, services or products. While ads are used by bloggers as a source of revenue, they can be so annoying if not well arranged; especially full page ads, ads that flash, or ads that unexpectedly play sound or video. Now, Google Chrome will start blocking ads in a bid to improve users' experience.

It's worth noting that Google—this year—joined the Coalition for Better Ads, a group that offers specific standards for how the industry should improve ads for consumers. So, as from the 15th of February, 2018, the tech giant will begin to block all ads (including Google's Ads) on websites accessed via Chrome browser that doesn't meet the "Better Ads Standards."

Webmasters seeking continuous ads display on Chrome should use "Google’s Ad Experience Report" to identify which ads don’t comply with the set Standards. Ads won't be blocked if the website has a “passing” status, but If the status is “failing” for 30 days or more, Chrome will stop showing ads on that website.

However, such websites can request a re-revision before it can start displaying ads again on Chrome.
Violations of the Standards are reported to sites via the Ad Experience Report, and site owners can submit their site for re-review once the violations have been fixed. Starting on February 15, in line with the Coalition’s guidelines, Chrome will remove all ads from sites that have a “failing” status in the Ad Experience Report for more than 30 days. All of this information can be found in the Ad Experience Report Help Center, and our product forums are available to help address any questions or feedback.

Majority of Google's revenue are from advertising, despite that, the company puts the interest of web users first.
