You say "Ok Google" to spur Google Assistant on phones, while Google Home owners can use the phrase: "Hey Google" to activate the Assistant. This can be very confusing to people using both platforms, however, users prefer using the latter for a reason we'll find out later. The good news now is the new hotword has started seeing a wider rollout, after it was made accessible to a limited number of users back in October.
A lot of Android phone users have reportedly been prompted to reset voice recognition within Google Assistant again, leaving them to choose between "Hey Google" or "OK, Google." All that's needed of you is to repeat your desired phrase a number of times as required, and you're all set. If you've already gotten accustomed to the "Ok Google" hotword, you can simply ignore the prompt to continue using it.
To manually check for the option, make sure that Google Assitant/Search are up to date and go to Settings > Google > Search > Voice > Voice Match to see if the "Hey Google" command has appeared.
The big question now is "when will the tech giant—Google allow us to reconfigure the voice modeling with our own custom hotwords?"
