After the Facebook Data Controversy, WhatsApp has This to say

In the wake of the recent Facebook data scandal where over 50 million users profile where collected without their permission by a consulting firm called Cambridge Analytica, WhatsApp has stepped up to dismiss any connection their platform has with the data extortion.

WhatsaPp Business

The Facebook-owned company posted a new FAQ section on their official website, reassuring users that their data and communications are private. Facebook has lately been under fire over the controversy, and interestingly, founder of WhatsApp adviced users to delete Facebook. Probably, the company worried that the founder's tweet may link the app to the controversy, so they came up to clear the air.

Well, this privacy reassurance is targeted to users of WhatsApp Business, a recently-launched version for customers to communicate and interact with businesses. According to WhatsApp, each message or call is encrypted at both ends and no one else can view the message. However, the company further stressed that we should be mindful, as when using the app, other people at the business may still see your messages.
“It's important to remember, however, that when you contact a business, several people in that business might see your messages.

The business you're communicating with has a responsibility to ensure that it handles your messages in accordance with its privacy policy..”
