MTN SME Data Price Increase: What all Sellers and Buyers Must Know

It seems MTN just set out this week to increase the prices of some of its most-used services; starting from the night data plan. Now, the telco giant is set to high the price of its MTN SME data bundles almost by half.

Few days back, MTN started circulating text messages of the upcoming prices to all SME data sellers, and this new prices will be effective starting for the 21st of August.

Old MTN SME Data Price

• 10GB @ ₦5500
• 20GB @ ₦11,000
• 50GB @ ₦25,000

New MTN SME Share Data Price (as at August 31st)

• 10GB @ ₦7500
• 20GB @ ₦14,000
• 50GB @ ₦30,000

With the surge in price, MTN data will not be sold at the normal price anymore as there is bound to be an increase.
-> 1GB which formerly sells for N600 will now be N800
-> 2GB data from N1200, will now be N1600
-> 3GB will rise to N2400, from N1800
-> 5GB will increase to about N3800.

Meanwhile, towards the ending of last year, MTN said they'll increase the SME data prices and they even sent out messages to all data vendors about the new pricing, but they never increased it. We hope same thing happens this time around.

Way out

• The best thing for both sellers and cusumers to do now is to buy data in advance before this effect takes place. Don't be scared, the data is valid for 3 months.
• Sellers should buy (cheap) airtime with larger discount from trusted sources, as this will enable you sell at a lower price.
• Sellers should charge uniform price for both airtime and bank transfer payment, instead of additional N100 for the former.
• Or just totally boycott MTN data and go for other networks so MTN will bring down the price again
