In the month of January, WhatsApp announced the coming of Live location feature, which was available to beta testers on all platforns. Now, the popular instant messaging app is set to roll out the feature to all WhatsApp users on Android and iOS devices.
Though, Live location sharing —which enables you to share your location in real-time with family or friends— is not new. it was added to Google map sometimes in March, followed by Facebook in the same month, then Snapchat joined the league in June.
WhatsApp Live Location is simply an easy and secure way to let people know where you are; Whether you're meeting up with friends, letting loved ones know you're safe, or just sharing your commute. You also have the option to share your location with them for 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, or indefinitely.
According to WhatsApp blog post, the feature will be rolling out 'in the coming weeks' to all Android and iOS users. Live location sharing is end-to-end encrypted and you have control of who to share with and for how long. You're also able to stop sharing at any time or let the Live Location timer simply expire.
How to Turn On Live Location on WhatsApp?
This new feature can be found under "Location" in the attach button. Open a chat with the person or group you want to share with, choose the Attach button and tap on Location, then hit "Share Live Location." Lastly, select for how long you want to share and tap send.
