Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus Rumoured Specifications, Release Date, and Price

Samsung has played-down rumours of her flagship device being announced in January's CES 2018, saying such timings are unlikely. So far, the South Korean OEM hasn't hinted a specific date for the exhibition, but we're certain Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will pack a lot of amazing features, and that's what really matters.

Samsung Galaxy S9 is expected to come in two(2) variants: a standard model with 5.8-inches screen, and a Plus model with a bigger 6.2" display at 2960x1440 pixels resolution. Both will sport a Super AMOLED, FullView and dual-curved edge display with 18:5:9 aspect ratio and a new type of under-glass fingerprint scanner.

For image duties, the Galaxy S9 is likely to use the same dual 12 megapixels camera specs as with the Note 8, with wide-angle lenses and OIS.

In terms of performance, the company might be boosting the RAM allotment of Samsung Galaxy S9 from 4GB to 6GB, paired with 64GB of storage and external microSD support.

It was confirmed earlier this month by Qualcomm at a special press event in Hawaii that the Galaxy S9 will be powered by Snapdragon 845 (in UK), an octa-core Kryo 385 CPU with four 2.8GHz high-power cores and four 1.8GHz low power cores. In other parts of the world, expect the phone to use the newly announced 10nm Exynos 9810 with Mali-G72 GPU.

A 27 percent increase in speed and 40 percent more energy-efficiency was recorded in the 10nm Snapdragon 835 processor over Qualcomm's previous 14nm chips. This new Snapdragon 845 is reportedly built on the 7nm manufacturing process, and it'll be more faster and 30% more efficient.

The battery is another spec that may get boosted, and according to ET News reports, the company will achieve this using a new type of motherboard that uses substrate-like PCB technology to squeeze in more layers of components - or extra room for the battery pack. Both wireless and wired fast charging feature will be available in the Galaxy S9, but Samsung might use its own Adaptive Fast Charging technology instead of Snapdragon processors' inbuilt Quick charge tech.

Back to the release date, Samsung Galaxy S9 is expected to be announced in January 2018, while sales will kick off by mid-February.
