iPhone Batteries Explodes for the Second Time in two days

The iPhone battery saga seems like it's not going to end. It took a new twist this week, as we recorded the second explosion in two days. Right in an Apple Store in Valencia, Spain, yesterday at 1:30pm local time, a battery inside an iPhone unit being repaired went ablaze, causing the whole floor to be filled with smoke. Three fire fighters and police ridiculously arrived at the scene after Apple employees had already put off the smoke. Thankfully, no injuries were recorded.

Before that incident, an iPhone battery had earlier caught on fire in an Apple Store at Zurich, Switzerland, leaving a worker with minor burns. A total of seven people were however treated at the scene, although none required transportation to the hospital.

The root cause of these explosions can be traced to the reduced battery replacement price from $79 to $29 after the Californian based OEM admitted to purposely slowing down old iPhones by throttling the CPU speed. Now, many Apple Stores unusually busier changing batteries. And if not properly done, could lead to such explosions 💥.
