How to Add a Shortcut to a Website on Your Desktop Using Chrome (Windows) 

Do you want to open your favorite websites faster? When you save a link to a webpage to the desktop of your Windows PC or Mac, you can open websites without having to type in long URLs or browse through bookmarks. We'll show you how to add an icon for a website shortcut to your desktop in the shortest amount of time.

1. In Windows, launch Chrome to view the website. You can use the website's custom icon (favicon) to create a desktop shortcut to it using the Chrome browser. Mac computers do not currently support this feature.
2. Click the button for the Chrome menu (). In the Chrome window's upper-right corner, you'll find this.
3. "Create Shortcut" is the option. An additional window will open.
4. It's possible that you are not using the most recent version of Chrome if you do not see this option. Install any updates that are currently available by selecting "Help" from the Chrome menu and then "About Google Chrome."
5. Give the shortcut a name. The shortcut will have the same name as the title of the website by default. It can be changed to anything you want.
6. Choose whether or not to open in a window. The shortcut will always open in its own window if you select "Open as window," making it behave more like an application. This could be very helpful for apps like Gmail and WhatsApp messenger.
7. To add it to your desktop, click "Create." On your desktop, you will see a new icon that is identical to the one used by the website.
8. To open the shortcut, double-click it. The shortcut will open in a standard Chrome browser window if you did not select "Open as window." The site will load in a separate window without the standard Chrome interface if you choose "Open as window."
