How to Blurr Your Zoom Background Using the Zoom Mobile App

  1. On your iPad, iPhone, or Android device, launch the Zoom app. To start Zoom, tap the blue-and-white video camera icon in your app list or on your Home screen.
  2. Join a group. You won't be able to blur your background until you are already a part of a meeting, unlike when you use the Zoom desktop app.
  3. Join the meeting without your camera if you're afraid to show your surroundings. Before turning on your camera, you can then blur your background. Before joining, turn on the "Turn Off My Video" switch to accomplish this.
  4. Tap the menu with three dots: •••. It will be visible in the screen's bottom-right corner.
  5. Tap the screen once to bring up the controls if you don't see this option.
  6. Select Background and Filters or Virtual Background. On the menu with three dots, choose one of these two options.
  7. You will need to enable Virtual Backgrounds for your account through the web-based version of Zoom if you do not see an option with the word Background. The option will appear after you enable the feature and stop and restart Zoom.
  8. Select Blur. This immediately blurs everything behind you, but it doesn't affect how clear your face is. For all subsequent Zoom meetings, your background will remain blurred as a result of blurring it.
  9. If you joined the meeting without turning on your camera, tap Start Video at the bottom to join with your new blurred background.
