The popular messaging app WhatsApp has publicised it intention to stop support for some smartphones, warning they'll no longer be able to use the app in the coming year.
The Facebook-owned app will stop working on smartphones with older operating system. With over 1.5 billion monthly active users, WhatsApp will not be accessible to users that can't upgrade their smartphones OS.
Written in a blog post which was silently published by the company: "if you currently use an older operating system, we recommend upgrading to a newer version"
Starting from December this year, the Nokia S40 won't be able to get WhatsApp support anymore. The following smartphones users will also be affected in Nigeria: Samsung Galaxy Mini Plus, HTC Evo 4G+, Huawei Mercury M886 and others running on Andrid 2.3 operating system or lesser.
In addition, the operating system of the phones listed below will no longer receive WhatsApp support.
The post added that the users of the following devices (listed below) won't be able to create a new account and some features may stop working at any moment.
